Whizz from Tokyo to Osaka on Japan’s futuristic trains, then bliss out all-inclusive-style in the Maldives - with excursions and all travel included

Your whistle-stop 14-night adventure starts in Tokyo, Japan’s forever-contrasting capital, where you’ll be staying at the leafy, traditional style Hotel Niwa Tokyo. You’ll find ultramodern, architectural feats alongside historic temples, crumbling buildings and garden-filled shrines in this fascinating city. Every experience here is different and you’ll dive right in, discovering the delicious cuisine and the most important sites on a tour of this dazzling metropolis.

After getting to grips with the capital city, you’ll hop on board a futuristic bullet train to Kanazawa. Here awaits your home for two nights, Hotel Trusty Kanazawa Korinbou, and the city known to its locals as ‘Little Kyoto’. Full of well-preserved Edo-era castles, like 17th-century Kenrokuen with its impeccably manicured gardens, this charming city sits on the Sea of Japan and is bordered by beautiful, mountainous landscapes. Be sure to explore Higashi Chaya, the teahouse district, and Nagamachi, once home to the samurais of the Edo period.

Next, it’s time to hit up Kyoto. This is the heart of old Japan, home to more than 2,000 Buddhist temples, plus Shinto shrines, imperial palaces and modern cityscape, which you’ll discover on a guided tour. Kyoto is the epitome of old and new combined, and you’ll be staying right in the middle of it all at Kyoto Tokyu Hotel. In late spring, the cherry blossom trees come out in full force, covering the city in a dusty pink blanket, while autumn brings the fiery red change of leaves. If you time it right, you might witness one of these spectacles on your tour of the city.

Spend a day in Nara visiting two UNESCO World Heritage temples and Nara Park, famous worldwide for being home to nearly 1,200 free-roaming deer. Your last stop in Japan is Osaka, where you’ll stay for one night at the Courtyard by Marriott Shin-Osaka Station. You'll have time to roam Osaka Castle and the delectable food markets, or you can opt to go on a walking tour to visit the city’s emblematic sights.

After all that excitement, it’s time to switch off in paradise. You’ll fly into Male, then transfer to the Centara Ras Fushi Resort & Spa and get acquainted with your Ocean Front Beach villa. Dive into absolute serenity here, with no cares in the world and no distractions from relaxation except the sounds of the ocean. Those who want a bit of excitement can find some of the world’s best diving only a short boat ride away, and the spectacular Thai-inspired spa makes for an utterly idyllic escape.

Good to know

Please note that one of your nights away will be an overnight flight between Japan and the Maldives making it a 14-night holiday, so be sure to take this into account when planning the time you'll be away.

We recommend you do not activate your Japan Rail Pass until day two or three of your trip since it only lasts for seven days. The pass can be used on selected trains in Tokyo and may be useful during your time there, but please ensure you have enough days remaining for the full length of your journey to Osaka.

Please note that at the time of booking, your name must be filled out exactly as per your passport (including any middle names). This is in order to accurately book flights and for any required visa invitation letters.
