Zanzibar

An incredible adventure to Tanzania’s most impressive wildlife areas, including the Serengeti, before all-inclusive bliss on the silky sands of Zanzibar - with all travel, safaris and more

Synonymous with rolling savannahs, mighty mountains, palm-fringed beaches and some of the most awe-inspiring animal encounters anywhere on Earth, Tanzania is a pretty extraordinary destination. This whistle-stop adventure will help peel back the curtain on this fascinating country, with incredible safaris in the famous Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Crater, then a spell on the beach in the ‘Spice Island’ of Zanzibar.

You’ll begin your adventure in the so-called ‘Safari Capital of the World’, Arusha, with a stay in the Mount Meru Hotel. Set right at the foothills of the namesake mountain, this is a great base from which to explore the city’s markets and cultural delights, as well as admire the views. You’ll then continue to Lake Manyara, billed as the “loveliest lake in Africa” by none other than Ernest Hemingway. Spot hippos, crocs, flamingoes and tree-climbing lions (if you’re lucky), then head to picturesque Karatu for a spell in the Country Lodge Karatu. Surrounded by lovely gardens and frequented by numerous bird species, this is a great spot in which to prepare for the next few days of safari-fuelled adventure.

Then, it’s time for the big one; the Serengeti National Park. Enjoy a full-day game drive through this incredible wildlife reserve, synonymous with the annual wildebeest migration, where millions of wildebeest, zebra, impala, gazelle run the gamut of predators to reach the Masaai Mara. Get the chance to spot the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo) as well as a whole host of other species. Whilst you’re exploring the park, camp at the Ang’ata Serengeti Camp, right in the heart of the reserve.

Swap one safari for another as you continue through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and enjoy a safari in the crater itself. As the world's largest inactive, intact and unfilled volcanic caldera, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is certainly unique. And, along with great views, you’ll also get the chance to spot spotted hyenas, lions, rare black rhino and more. After a full day of exploring, take in the incredible panoramic vistas from your tent at Ang’ata Ngorongoro Camp.

Post-safari action, hop aboard a flight to the palm-fringed beaches and coral reefs of Zanzibar. While away the hours at the five-star Dream of Zanzibar, making the most of the all-inclusive board for maximum R&R. After a spell of sun, sand and all-around bliss, catch your flight back to the UK.
