Day 1: UK - Muscat

Depart the UK on an overnight flight to Muscat.

Day 2: Muscat

Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel, stopping en route at the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque. Spend some time at leisure before setting off on a city tour. Visit the Bait Al Zupair Museum to explore Omani heritage, visit Old Muscat and stop at Muttrah - the main port area with its ancient souk. Overnight in Muscat.

Day 3: Muscat - Barka - Nakhal - Rostaq - Muscat

Head to the coastal town of Barka to visit the traditional fish market. Afterwards, proceed to Nakhal, famous for its ancient fort and its hot springs. Continue to Rostaq, where Al Hazm fort is a particular highlight. Enjoy a photo stop before heading back to Muscat, where you'll visit the Amouage Perfume Factory. Overnight in Muscat. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 4: Muscat - Nizwa - Jabal Shams

Proceed to Nizwa, with its famous Round Tower Fort and cattle auction souk. Visit Jabrin, the finest of Oman's castles which was built in the late 17th century and houses fascinating ceiling murals. Then, continue on, stopping at the village of Wadi Ghul, before taking a panoramic mountain drive to reach Jabal Shams - the Mountain of the Sun and the second highest peak in the Arab Gulf region. Overnight in Jabal Shams. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 5: Jabal Shams - Wahiba Sands

Set off to the mythical Wahiba Sands - an area home to mighty sand dunes and exotic flora and fauna. Take a camel ride or a dune drive to explore the desert. Enjoy a traditional Bedouin dinner under the starry skies and overnight at the camp. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 6: Wahiba Sands - Sur

Awake to the sunrise before breakfast, then head towards Sur, renowned for its traditional shipyards where Omani boats (dhows) are constructed. Spend some time at leisure here. Overnight in Sur. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 7: Sur - Wadi Shab - Muscat

Depart for Wadi Shab, an oasis of natural pools and waterfalls. Continue on to the white-sand beaches of Fins where you can spend some time swimming in the turquoise waters. Continue on to Muscat, where you'll spend the night. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 8: Muscat - UK

Transfer to the airport to catch your flight home to the UK. (Meals: breakfast)

In short, you pay Secret Escapes a non-refundable deposit to secure your holiday, then you pay the holiday supplier the remaining balance of the holiday - as advertised - at a later date (before you travel).

We've added deposit-only sales to enable our members to get early-bird access to more amazing holidays, and because we know that planning and paying for a holiday can take time.
